| | Bright Eyes - My pick from all his albums | ] | Update time...found some free time at work to update my blog.
I've had a crazy week but don't want to go into aspects of it for my own reasons. Besides...it's coming to Christmas time...the days are flying by and I constantly find myself closer and closer to the day with very few presents bought. Only person I've started buying for is Kia (but she's back home to the States soon so she is a present priority).
Next Sunday may mark the start of a new band. I'm getting together with a few people at a studio in Strettham for a bit of playing and a bit of song writing and hopefully we'll be kick starting something. I've only met the guitarist thus far and he's really sound, so hopefully I'll get on with the drummer and singer. Shall update with more about this after the rehearsal...but hopefully it's gonna be promising.
I'm gonna start thinking about my final year project for next year soon and hopefully have made a good solid start on it before I start back at uni in the summer. I'll be happy if I atleast have an idea of an area I want to explore and some reasearch done by then. But I'm so lazy that I doubt I will.
...Duffy hasn't posted in a while. This is a fact and nothing more. |

| | iPod 'on the go' - Jimmy Eat World, Emanuel, Biffy Clyro, etc | ] | Just a quick update as I haven't posted in a little. I have returned from the States...a little older, a little wiser and still most likely better than you.
It was a good trip and just what I needed. Lots of sun and lots of fun. I probably spent too much money on clothes.
We took a trip out to Las Vegas and spent our thanksgiving there and it was great, I regret forgetting my camera, but I've decided I deffintely wanna go back anyway (for gambling - stupid American age laws). I was able to spend my time there catching shows, checking out hotels and their rides, and taking in the mixture of beautiful sights along with the tacky. Some of the stuff there is really incredible.
In short...me and Kia had a great time. I have realised that England is too cold and will be looking to move out to the states for a little while after university.
Unfortunately, I didn't really take any photos whilst I was out there. So I won't even bother dangling the false carrott of photo's in your faces.
...I miss Jamba Juice, Wendy's, Jack in the box, Mountain Juice, Twinky's and cheap stores. |

| | The Beatles | ] | I'm here living the life in the OC at the moment...after a long flight (with good current movies to watch) we got LA. Therefore...I thought that whilst I was here, I'd do some blogging.
This will be brief...
I'm currently typing this with Kia's dog Zoey sitting on my lap, with a bottle of mountain dew and a pleasently warm night out of the window. Yep...it's hot here...so hot and bright, the complete opposite to Uxbridge.
Did a bit of scenester-esq shopping today...got a bunch of cool stuff for from some thrift stores and bought an emo band t-shirt from Hot Topic. Tommorow, we're going to a swap meet and hopefully I'll be able to pick up some kind of cheap musical instrument or maybe a cool little analouge camera.
Gonna drive out to the beach, do more shopping, go to a comedy club, a show and other stuff. Gonna be a quality little week away from my usual day to day life of 15 adverts a day.
...Thank you Ben for the entertaining e-mail. |

Livejournal and Photobucket succeeded in screwing me over with my Kealan crafted image. Nothing more shall be said.
Me, Ben, Kim and Ads are being sued by the council...if you're Kim and this is the first you know of this...get in touch with Ben.
I feel I should fill out this 6 songs list thingy that Kim tagged me to do. Not for any other reason than boredom and because no one else seems like they want to. I have no one to tag but...the 6 songs that I can't help but love at the moment are...
- Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah - The Beatles - Twist and Shout - Brighteyes - Hit the Switch - Weezer - Smile - Track Fed Morphine - Yeah - Radiohead - Knives Out
Worked on some stuff with JJ for the RAG week CD. Wrote some pretty good material for it so far...but the track might be a tad too explicit for the university to allow and it therefore may just end up as part of a mixtape or something (between myself and JJ).
The weekend beckons. Woop. |

| | The Beatles | ] | Well...I haven't updated this ina long time, but I've produced 15 ads and now I feel I can take 10 minutes off to update my blog. I've actually been extremely active between this post and my last post. Things that I have done between then and now:
- Went to the Natural History museum - Eaten at various Chinese, Japanese and Thai places - Been screwed over by the London Dungeon on Halloween - Found out a bar near London Bridge has a robot barmaid (which I plan to see!) - Drank tea on the Thames on a big ass boat - Gone to the Science museum - Had an audition to play bass for a band I'm a fan of - Met up with another guy to discuss the possibility of joining his newly starting band - Got the new iPod - Was asked to rap on an upcoming CD for RAG week (which is likely to never be produced) - Went to the biggest firework display in london (located at Alexandra Palace) - Watched all of Curbed Season 4 and the Family Guy movie
So as you can see...busy busy busy...and now I really need to start getting stuff ready for my trip to California to spend Thanks Giving with some of Kia's family. Things are gonna be hectic...but I'm salivating at the idea of some time of work.
I've also spent alot of my breaks at work doing stuff on Photoshop and trying to improve my abilities a bit. I'm doing it all without the use of tutorials and using my own understandings and new things I've picked up at work and from other people. It's all come out pretty decent, but aspects just don't seem right about certain areas...but hey...it's all a learning curve. I'll post what I've done so far sometime this week.
...back to work.

Everyday that passes brings me closer to getting the new iPod. Contrary to the belief of some (Kim), I will actually use the video function of it. It'll really help me to pass the time on my long bus journies to and from work and it'll be a god send for plane trips. Speaking of plane trips...I'm off to America for just over a week at the end of November to spend Thanks Giving with Kia's family in California, which I'm really looking forward to. Her brother is planning to teach me how to snowboard and I plan to own at it (obviously not in sunny Cali, but on some mountain somewhere in the area)! There's some talk of a road trip somewhere like Las vegas or the Grand Canyon or something also...so my camera better not be too broken! I'm also really looking forward to meeting Kia's family...hopefully I won't do anything too stupid.
Went to the zoo at the weekend and took photos, found out my cameras probably busted...but will talk more about this when I have my photos uploaded sometime in the next week.
Went to the uni pub quiz last night, which sucked pretty much...but oh well.
...I wrote this and I'm aware of what I've written, so quoting from it in person and trying to make it a joke is pointless cause it doesn't work...morron. |

| | Queens of the Stoneage - Rated R | ] | Well another day, another dollar...so they say and todays dollar appears to be 2 sided (as I'm sure all dollars are). There is a very shiny side which involves me getting to spend a great evening out with my girl getting some food and doing something romantic to celebrate another month of a blissful relationship and I'm really looking forward to getting home from work and falling right into her loving embrace for the weekend. However, the otherside of the coin is rusted, it's been drenched in the rain of bitter disappointment due to todays news regarding my PC. I was informed yesterday that my PC would be arriving today and set it up so Kia would be at my place to recieve it, I phoned the couriers this morning around 10 as I had not been told they had set off and was reassured once again that I'd be getting my PC today. A few minutes later and I recieved a phone call telling me they'd forgotten to put it on the van and would now have to wait till next week...baring in mind that I've paid these couriers to send this...it's not a service provided with my PC...it is something set up seperately from that. I was not best pleased....but what can i really do?
In better news...I should have the new iPod within the next few weeks and I can't wait! Videos and music a-go-go.
Tommorow should be fun...I think me and Kia are gonna go to London Zoo and see the animals. The zoo is a pleasure that I haven't had in a couple of years and I can't wait either. There will be a full report on this later and maybe even some photo's...which I can potentially sell later on to some 2nd years for Cockett's imaging project. |

I have a chiropractor appointment tonight and will probably go to the pub with Kia afterwards. However...more interesting is the fact that Friday marks the 5 month mark in mine and Kia's relationship. So I'm sure we'll go and do something, have a meal, go and see a show in central, go to the cinema, something else...I'm not sure what yet...but we'll figure it out.
Right...back to work...I'm about to make a series of 3 ads for a company that specialises in 'all your electrical needs' which should be as fun as sitting in an empty room for a day.

| | Incubus - Make Yourself | ] | This morning presented me with the most difficult dilema to face common man...to put it in the words of the Clash "Should I stay or should I go?" I woke up feeling tired and a little cold and with the idea of 7 hours of work and 2 bus journies equaling around 2 hours to face. That's a huge chunk out of the day! However, I got dressed, had breakfast and kissed my girlfriend goodbye and rejoined the rat race.
Today brings a bass lesson (with which I have had very little practice for)...although I'm pretty sure something yesterday clicked whilst playing as I suddenly possesed abilities that I did not have prior to that practice session...I also found this had happened when I picked up my accousric guitar. Perhaps there is a section of the brain which stores information such as the dexterity and control of your fingers that has become unlocked due to play instruments frequently....probably not. It's probably just one of those things that happens when the brain understands something through repitition.
I have officially caught up with the rest of civalisation and seen both Kill Bill 1 and 2 and SpiderMan 1 an 2...all 4 films were very good. The KIll Bill's showed off Quentin Tarentino's great direction and how he could write and make a film with roughly no storyline that was entertaining from start to finish. The Spiderman films were both really good and were probably the best comic book adaptations (excluding Sin City). However, I did feel that both were maybe a touch too long...but I won't be too snippy.
Right...back to work.
...Kim and Kealan's arguement over digital comics was ultimately pointless. |

| | Bullet for my Valentine - The Poison | ] | This weekend has been busy busy! On Friday night, my sister came over and we went out for a meal along with my girlfriend (the food was really bad), me and my sister headed back to mine and due to both of us having tiring jobs, didn't do much else. She left the following morning. I on the otherhand went in central London with Kia to do some shopping, around 3:00 we decided to get some food and stopped by Wagamama's which do really good Japanese food (or atleast the food we had was good)...amazingly, my sister was also getting food there with a friend. It was pretty crazy. Considering there is several of Wagamama's in London and the time we ate, it was just weird.
Anywho...didn't do much else over the weekend except coupley stuff and finally watched Kill Bill (about a ka-billion years after everyone else has seen it). I really enjoyed it and I get Kill Bill 2 on the agenda for tonight...wooo! So, this evening should offer something to get excited about (other than seeing Kia...who I'm unashamedly crazy about).
I bought a copy of a magazine the other day called 'Advanced Photoshop' and now plan to subscribe to it. It seems to be a really good reference for advanced effects in Photoshop (such as realistic smoke, working with gradient meshs effectively, model ageing and anti-ageing, etc), it also came with 2 CD's filled with stock images and Photoshop plug-ins. Plus, there is some really awe inspiring Photoshop and graphical design which is worth the money alone.
...'30 Seconds to Mars' suck...they stole £5.97 of my money with their CD, which is regurgitated riff heavy rock, shit lyrics about space that are struggling to be deep and come off as sounding ridiculous and the kind of generic voice that makes you want to do as osterichs often do. It in short was bad...so bad in fact, that I felt stupid for having bought and hated myself for the following 2 hours after having forced my ears to endure it. I have also come to realise that it's fronted by Hollywood star Jared Leto...blek! |

| | Rocky Votolato - Suicide Medicine | ] | The gig I went to at KoKo in Camden last night was pretty nice. Longview were impressively good (in terms of sound), not the most stimulating of live shows but there was a really charming quality about it all. I don't really think I've been turned into a fan, but I'd happily listen to them.
We started the evening late from the get go, but still managed to get there in time to see the 2 opening acts. We got caught behind some annoying woman for 15 minutes at the tube station. It appears she was asking far too many questions about something or other...things that were probably not that important...but yet she persisted in annoying myself, Kia and Pete. The first openng band finished their set about 10 minutes after we got there and the 2nd act (some accoustic guitar guy) was pretty good, a very likable quality about him (sounded like Brighteyes and Rocky Votolato got together and had a child)...however, some of his songs sounded far too similar to existing songs (one sounded near identical to Brighteyes 'First day of my life'). Longview came on, played a solid set and the night was over. As always, bar prices were crazy...a can of fosters and a vodka and red bull came to £11.
This all lead me to be worse for wear at work and I'm tired and I have my sister coming over tonight...so I have a while till I get my chance to sleep. That's about it.

I went to bed at around 10:00 last night, this proves that working makes you tired and makes you miss the most interesting part of the day 10:00-12:00 (in my opinion).
I'm going to a gig tonight....Longview, in Camden and although they're quite melodic and slow (and not really my cup of tea), I know a lot of people that like them and therefore, I shall give them a chance...BUT ONLY 1!
My new computer should be arriving sometime over the next week I hope and with it comes the task of finding good broadband so I can get back to the world I've almost forgotten...MSN-ville (aka. Loser-ville). Life with out an IM has been and interesting experience cause it's given me time to do other things...but I'm looking forward to the prospect of having my own internet connection again and a super swish computer (far superior to Kims whimpish laptop).

Work's going alright today. It's 1:20 and I've already done 10 ads of my 15 a day quota...therefore, this afternoon is likely to be a tad more relaxed. Unfortunately, I had to bring my bass with me to work today cause I have a bass lesson more or less as soon as I get back so no point walking home an then to the station.
I reformatted my digital cameras memory card last night and woo hoo...I'm set for 49 photos one again...so soon this blog should be all about the images baby! Photo-a-go-go!

| | Motion City Soundtrack - I am the movie | ] | Right, I haven't updated this in a little while, but I have recently realised that I only visit 2 or 3 websites on a regular basis and therefore, work is an ideal place to update my blog as my 10 minute breaks is far too much time for 3 or so websites!
Today I have been plugging away at "speculative visuals" as I do on a day to day basis for Yell...that's right boys and girls...it's called Yell...not the Yellow Pages. Anywho...I've done about 13 or so at the minute and have about an hour of work left, so I'm sure I'll hit at least the 15 mark.
I recently discovered my digital camera is a bit bust, it can only seem to store 4 photos at a time. I don't recall boosting the resolution on it or anything, so I'm a bit unsure as to what the problem is...I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually...I just wish I had it cause I want to be posting pictures on this blog! Although there is now no longer a need to post pictures of my room or anything cause only 4 people read this thing anyway and all of them have seen my room. This has lead me on to a new idea.
How do I make my blog more successful and more widely read, Kim manages it and compared to me, he's a moron. So I guess the answer og blog boosting is taking nice photos, having witty things to say, having strong and valid opinions, finding other blogs and reading them and thus creating my own network of people that are likely to read mine in turn...alternatively...I could just spam a lot of places with the address. The former seems much more work where as the latter is easier and therefore...Kim's blog may be the first to suffer...muwwahahah.
....or not as will be the case.

I'm currently lying in bed typing this cause I'm taking a day off work ddue to illness...I feel under the weather and it sucks. I feel guilty about missing work cause I'm being paid and I feel I should be there, but I guess I do need atleast this 1 day to recooperate.
I have officially moved into my new place and its so amazing. It's very spacious, double bed as well as a sofa and table and several phone sockets, a washing machine, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher and balcony. In short...it's sweet (pictures should be taken and posted within the next few days).
Work isn't too bad...it gets pretty boring cause it seems that the world is just full of roof experts, plumbers, kitchen/bathroom specialists aand other boring jobs...where are all the adverts for spies and rock stars and stuff??? It's defintely making me better designer in terms of layout and style and I'm pretty confident that my final year project will look dope (in layout atleast). |

I had an emo poem that I had written in there and now I've lost all my umph for writing another longer post...so this one shall be short. However, I shall write a new emo poem about browsers that crash...who knows, I may end up turning it into a song that will show a new range of emo anguish.
'This studpid browser' a poem
My carefully and precisely constructed musings so carelessly, so thoughtlessly, so hopelessly lost the browser doesn't care as it laughs its laugh "404: Here's a bitter kiss to the farewell of your last post" The cross in the corner bareing ever bigger till the screen is blank awashed with that empty glaring desktop, no trace of what was and what could be the history box as useless as the run time error that preceded it those words, those missing words, those unrecoverable words fall victim to the crash that never left debris
Other than writing that poem...I listened to a crazy Derby game in which we drew 2-2. I'm back in Derby packing currently (although by saying that...I have yet to pack anything) for when I move stuff to my studio flat down in London. I am also now considering changing these stupid goat emoticons as they're a bit rubbish and just look stupid! |
